About Marsdens Confectionery

Hello, I’m Alex, the owner and founder of Marsdens Confectionery.

I started Marsdens in 2001 from my home in Kintbury, Berkshire, with a simple ambition: to make really good fudge and chocolates using traditional recipes, quality ingredients and plenty of care. More than 25 years later, we’re still a small, family-run business, and that personal approach remains at the heart of everything we do.

Our story begins with my grandmother. Our signature Vanilla Fudge is made using her original recipe – one that has been passed down through my family and remains a firm favourite of mine. There’s something very special about making a recipe that has been enjoyed by generations of my family and knowing that it is now being enjoyed by customers across the country too.

I’ve always believed that good fudge doesn’t need lots of unnecessary extras. We use British butter and carefully selected ingredients, and our traditional fudge is made without additives, artificial colours or artificial flavourings. There’s no glucose, palm oil or soya – just good ingredients, traditional methods and plenty of care.

Our Vanilla Fudge has a wonderfully smooth, creamy, melt-in-the-mouth texture, combined with a deliciously crumbly finish. It has even been likened to Scottish Tablet. And, if I’m honest, it’s rather difficult to stop at just one piece!

We’re incredibly proud to have won 29 Great Taste Awards, including two more in 2026 for our Vanilla Fudge and Ginger Fudge. Our Christmas Pudding Fudge was awarded 3 Stars in 2024, with the Guild of Fine Food describing it as “a very cleverly conceived and executed fudge” and saying they could think of no way to improve it. Vogue has also described our Vanilla Fudge as “second to none”.

Alongside our award-winning fudge, we make a range of handmade chocolates and truffles, all with the same focus on quality and flavour. We also create bespoke orders for weddings, birthdays, celebrations and corporate events.

I’m very proud of how Marsdens has grown since those early days in 2001, but I’m especially proud that we’ve remained a small, personal business. When you buy from Marsdens, you’re buying something that has been made with care by people who genuinely love what they do.

Whether you’re choosing a gift, ordering for a special occasion, or simply treating yourself, I hope you enjoy our fudge and chocolates as much as we enjoy making them.

Thank you for supporting our family business – and for helping my grandmother’s recipe live on.
